HOW MUCH POWER DO I NEED TO RUN A SEED TERMINATOR?
Deep research & development in this space shows that the energy needed to destroy tiny seeds is high, if you are not using power you are not killing seeds. We estimate it will require 80-100 horsepower.
WILL I BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE LATEST SEED TERMINATOR TECHNOLOGY?
Yes, we aim for this to be a future proof technology platform, able to slot in the latest mill technology available in two, five or 10 years' time.
WHICH MAKES AND MODELS DO YOU HAVE A SEED TERMINATOR FOR?
We have a solution for

i'm planning on upgrading my header, is it simple to swap the Seed terminator?
Yes, the Seed Terminator system is easy to swap over to a new combine harvester it just needs to be unbolted and installed on the new machine. For John Deere machines there are no changes to the straw hood further simplifying the system.
WHat questions should i be asking when considering mill tech?
- Can I buy from my current Dealer & fit to my combine?
- Does it use Multi-MOA to kill multiple weeds on farm?
- Is the mill tech aerodynamic to reduce hot air / power?
- Is the cost of replacement parts reducing & do they last?
- Is cleaning shoe performance / airflow unaffected?
- Does it take <20 mins to change out mills?
- Are there different mill options for capacity & weed kill?
- Is the mill easy to bypass?
- Is it easy to swap the unit between machines?
- Does it feature a magnet tray for foreign ingress?
- Is it independently tested across multiple species?
- Does the chaff spread full front width?
- Is the technology future proof, able to slot in latest tech?
- Can the company help me with harvester set up?
- Do they invest in continuous Research & Development?
- Is the company local, supporting Australian businesses?
1 | Stop the spread of weeds
2 | Drive the weed population down
"You couldn't design a better weed seed spreader than a combine harvester.
It separates the grain out, then the weeds go round and round the tailings, distributing them nicely across the paddock"
- DR NICK BERRY

Independent Testing
South Australian Grains Industry Trust funded research conducted by Trengove Consulting in 2017 found ryegrass weed seed kill was 93% at 2250 rpm and increased to 98% or greater at normal operating speeds (2500–3000 rpm). Results also showed more than 99% control of several other species including wild radish, brome grass, wild oat, bifora, bedstraw and tares and increasing chaff flow rate (harvest rate) did not reduce control of these species.

“It seems crazy that we spend time and money killing weeds all year, only to reward the survivors at harvest and spread them out so we have something to spray next year”
|
"We aim for this to be a future proof technology platform, able to slot in the latest mill technology available in 2, 5 or 10 years' time."
Discover the science behind mechanically killing weed seeds and how to do this during harvest.
^ Matt & Honni from Ascend Films caught up with Mick Schutz in September 2020 to chat about their family farming operation in Grass Patch north of Esperance WA, the independent kill testing he has done and how the Seed Terminator triplets fit. |
"We don't farm for tomorrow, we don't farm for next week, we farm for the future” MICK SCHUTZ, GRASS PATCH WA |
"Our objective was minimising seed numbers; we tried rotation, minimum till, brown manure, windrow burning, high rates of trifluralin, increased seeding rate, chaff cart and finally the Seed Terminator"
